Working within CTO Digital, the candidate would work on the development, integration and
deployment of DTV Video On Demand systems throughout Europe.
This involves cooperation with other Company Technology design authorities, business lines, affiliate
distribution companies and the Operations group. There will also be extensive cooperation with
external technology suppliers.
Understand all aspects of the Video On Demand platforms. In addition understand all aspects of the
Video On Demand Platforms deployed by this Company, and future industry directions and developments.
Document Video On Demand System Architectures. |

BSc degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
Exposure to and understanding of Internet, TCP/IP Systems and Protocols, Unix and Microsoft based
servers.
Must be willing and able to adapt rapidly to changing priorities and technologies.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, to maintain and develop effective working relationships with
other peers
Experience with the installation and deployment of head-end equipment.
Must have excellent problem solving skills and attention for detail.
Must be able to work under pressure and be prepared to work outside normal working hours when
necessary.
Must be proactive, with a desire to continuously improve system solutions, documentation and
process & procedures.
Good Understanding of English.
Like to travel and work on-site throughout Europe.
Desirable skills and experience
Experience with digital Video On Demand systems.
Understanding of related areas such as MPEG, RTSP, NVOD.
Understanding and experience of the technologies and protocols used in DVB-C systems e.g. DOCSIS.
Understanding of RF e.g. QAM and QPSK
Good understanding DVB-C, DVB-S architectures and technologies e.g. Cable headends, provisioning
systems, business systems interfaces.
Experience of various MPEG-2/DVB test tools and measurement techniques
Exposure to products from Tandberg, Scientific Atlanta, Broadbus, C-Cor, Seachange, Nagra, Philips,
Nortel and Cisco. |
