Good Degree in Electronics, Computing or Telecommunications. Minimum 2 Years direct experience in broadcast systems engineering, preferably in a Cable or Satellite TV environment. Detailed technical knowledge of mainstream broadcast systems components and Conditional Access systems. Detailed technical knowledge of MPEG standards, DVB standards, Video and Audio technologies, Teletext -and DVB subtitles. Good understanding of STB architectures, VOD, NVOD, and interactive TV systems. Good understanding of RF/HFC technology, DOCSIS (US/DS), QAM and QPSK modulation techniques, RF system components, and distribution chains. In depth knowledge and understanding of Test & Measurement techniques (RF/HFC/Tilt levels/equalizers distribution, DVB transport stream analysis). In depth knowledge of Internet and TCP/IP systems and protocols (Multicast, UDP, routes). Working knowledge of IT systems using Windows & Unix. In depth knowledge of DOCSIS standards and configurations (CMTS, config/bootfiles, measurements US/DS). Good technical knowledge overview of end-to-end system architectures including BSS/OSS and delivery networks. Good command of the English language – other languages are a plus. Good inter-personal communication skills, must be flexible and team player whilst retaining the ability to be self-reliant and work unsupervised. Good MS office, Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, MSProject etc. Basic knowledge of Project Management. Must be able to learn new technologies and techniques quickly – often without formal training. Must have a very high level of self-motivation. Effective time management, communication and organizational skills. Flexibility in working hours.

Ensure lab systems are built, operated, and maintained to meet agreed lab operational requirements. Ensure labs meet timelines of projects with dependencies on labs and do not contribute to delays in the projects. Development and maintenance of lab systems & infrastructure to ensure labs meet needs of business. Ability of minimize cost of lab broadcast systems to meet lab requirements. Development of lab system documentation to enable effective management, operation and support of lab systems by other lab team members. Working to agreed and documented lab processes and procedures.
